"I will ask the Father, and he will give another Counselor to be with you forever - the Spirit of truth" (John 14:16).
I was reminded today of one of the benefits of having a relationship with God: His gift of the Holy Spirit. The verse above describes the Holy Spirit as a Counselor.
It is with some trepidation I admit, sometimes in life I can have a propensity towards laziness. It was this issue the Holy Spirit put his finger on, when he inspired me to read the following verse in a new light.
"If a man is lazy, the rafters sag; if his hands are idle, the house leaks." Ecclesiastes 10:18
Many times in the Bible the word "house" is used as a metaphor to describe a person. In my low times I feel robbed of self-esteem, energy and confidence. In these times it is as if the joy of past success and happiness has "leaked" from my being. I believe the Holy Spirit was showing me that being lazy can cause me to have a leaking vessel.
Dear God, please help to avoid laziness!

Yes, it is true. When one is alone with thoughts, laziness tends to creep into the fabric of life and devour whatever great accomplishments have been acheived. Fear not - there's always motivation at the end of that tunnel.
This is excellent, Tim! I appreciate these entries and look forward to more.
Well lad, you've taken a step in the right direction...ya got off yer duff and wrote some stuff in here! :-)
Tim, I just came across the following from David Allen's "Ready for Anything" (p.51) and it seemed relevant to your post about laziness:
"When it comes to focusing, I need all the help I can get. I think I want to improve, grow, and create results, but I lack the mental discipline of a yogi and the brilliant single-mindedness of a savant. I confess: I'm lazy and easily distracted by any bright bauble that comes and glitters in the field of my awareness."
Well said - a good thought for me. Good luck for the next 3 weeks alone!
Thanks so everybody for commenting. I look foward to writing some more detalied resonses to each of you soon, as well as my next entry. Uni is very demanding at the moment - I promise I'm not being lazy! LOL! I'm trying to prioritise uni at the moment! Look foward to "seeing" you soon, Cheers.
Hi Tim
This bit of info might be slightly relevant to your comments about laziness and our ongoing conversations about motivation to maintain strong directions with biblical and historical study.
The address below is an example of other peope allready doing some of the hard work. I have found that if I have a question or dilema about something, it is a sure bet that someone has already been there. Sometimes this is confirmed as I find question and answer sights like the one below.
God bless mate, see you soon.

And here it is, months later, and I finally come across this during a similar time of being 'more aware' of laziness. Thatnks for the honest thoughts here.
